Warmth, pressure, and your comfort
Hot stone massage adds the sensation of smooth heated stones to hands-on massage. Explain your temperature and pressure preferences before the session and speak up during it. Warmth should feel comfortable, and you can ask for an adjustment or for the stones to be left out.
If sustained pressure is your priority, compare the separate Deep Tissue Massage menu. Our hot stone vs deep tissue guide explains the practical differences.
What the evidence can support
NCCIH's massage overview describes possible short-term help for some pain conditions, with important limits in the evidence. Those general massage findings do not prove that adding hot stones is better than another technique or that a spa treatment cures an illness.
